AA Just Today is built for deeply personal recovery work. This policy explains what information the app uses, where it is stored, and how you can control or delete it.
Short version: you can use the app with local storage only, or you can sign in to use Realtime Sync. When Realtime Sync is enabled, your recovery data and media attachments are stored in Firebase/Google Cloud so they can sync between your devices.
Information You Create In The App
Depending on how you use AA Just Today, the app may store recovery information such as:
- Sobriety date, recovery counter settings, coin color, and coin sound preference.
- Today checklist progress, prayers, reminders, pinned shortcuts, and app settings.
- Journal entries, gratitude lists, nightly inventory, Fourth Step work, meeting notes, and other written recovery content.
- Reading bookmarks, highlights, notes, reading progress, audio playback positions, and downloaded audio status.
- Photos, videos, audio recordings, drawings, thumbnails, and transcripts attached to your entries.
Local Storage And Realtime Sync
Local storage only: if you choose local storage, your app data stays on that device unless you later enable sync. You can delete local data by using reset/delete options in the app or by uninstalling the app.
Realtime Sync: if you sign in with Apple or Google, AA Just Today uses Firebase Authentication, Firestore, and Firebase Storage to sync supported data across your devices. Free accounts may be limited to one sync device. Premium accounts may use Realtime Sync across additional devices.
If you enable Realtime Sync after using the app locally, the app may migrate your existing local recovery data and media attachments to your cloud account so your data is not lost.
Account And Device Information
When you sign in, we may process your sign-in provider, account identifier, email address if provided by Apple or Google, Firebase user ID, device ID, device name, device model, platform, app version, and last active time. This is used to keep your account connected, enforce sync device limits, and protect your data.
Location And Weather
If you allow location access, the app uses your location to find nearby meetings and show weather on the Today screen. Location is used for those features and is not used for advertising. You can deny or disable location permission at any time in your device settings.
Audio Transcription
If you request transcription for an audio recording, the audio may be uploaded to our server and processed by OpenAI to create a transcript. The transcript may be saved with your entry if you keep it. Temporary audio processing files are deleted after transcription is completed or fails.
Purchases And Subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We may receive subscription status, product identifiers, transaction metadata, and entitlement status so the app can unlock Premium features.
Support And Feedback
If you contact support, submit feedback, report a meeting issue, or request account deletion, we may receive your email address, message, device/app details you provide, and related support records so we can respond and improve the app.
Third-Party Services
- Firebase and Google Cloud: authentication, realtime database storage, media storage, and related infrastructure.
- RevenueCat: subscription entitlement management.
- Apple App Store and Google Play: app distribution, purchases, and account-level payment controls.
- OpenAI: optional audio transcription when you request it.
- Open-Meteo and meeting data sources: weather and meeting lookup features.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use your journal, gratitude, inventory, prayer, or recovery content for advertising.
- We do not show third-party ads in the app.
- We do not intentionally collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
Data sent between the app and cloud services is encrypted in transit. Synced media and documents are stored in Firebase/Google Cloud and protected by Firebase security rules tied to your authenticated account. No cloud system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we design the app to keep each user's data private to that user.
Data Retention And Deletion
Local-only data remains on your device until you delete it. Synced cloud data remains in your AA Just Today account until you delete it, reset it, or request account deletion.
You can request deletion of your account and synced cloud data at justtodayapp.com/delete-account or by emailing support@justtodayapp.com. Deletion requests include Firebase Authentication data, Firestore sync data, Firebase Storage media, and device registrations associated with your account. Some payment, security, and support records may be retained where required by law, fraud prevention, or app store/provider records.
Your Choices
- Use local storage only if you do not want cloud sync.
- Turn off location permission in iOS or Android settings.
- Delete local app data from inside the app or by uninstalling.
- Request cloud account deletion at any time.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple App Store or Google Play.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The updated date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
